Ex-FHM editor Mike Soutar is to take editorial charge of the entire IPC magazine business, as part of a wide ranging shake-up across the group, which is preparing for a number of new launches.
Soutar, who was previously managing director of IPC Ignite, will be responsible for the development of new magazine brands across the portfolio. He will also retain responsibility for the fashion-heavyweight Wallpaper* title.
IPC Chief executive, Sly Bailey, commented: “Following our successful integration into the AOL Time Warner organisation, IPC is now fully committed to growing its business. We are focused on building our position as a creative and innovative media business, and a key part of this will be a significant new magazine development and launch programme.”
Tim Brooks, who is currently managing director of IPC Southbank will move into Soutar’s vacated position, heading up IPC Ignite. He will also retain responsibility for the company’s division in Australia.
Sandy Whetton will fill Brooks shoes at IPC Southbank, leaving his current position of managing director of Raven Fox, the travel and retail division of Euromoney Institutional Investor.
In a company first, group marketing director Philippa Brown is to join the IPC Media Board in a move which reflects the importance of marketing in the company’s growth strategy.
Brown commented on her appointment: “Marketing remains at the top of our business agenda and I am looking forward to working with my Board colleagues to ensure that we continue to support our existing brands with first class marketing initiatives as well as to exploit the very best opportunities for taking our new brands to market. This is crucial to our future success and will be a key focus for IPC’s marketing team.”
