ABC Follow-Up Report: Adverts in Music Titles

ABC results for the six-month period ending June 2002 saw an impressive performance from Emap’s niche-market heavy metal favourite Kerrang!, which was the biggest mover in the sector with a 60% increase in circulation year on year (see ABC Jan-Jun 2002- Music Titles). Figures from Nieslen Media Research show that the title also managed to increase the number of adverts it hosted by an impressive 107.7% during the same period.

The largest percentage increase in number of adverts came from Future Publishing’s Classic Rock magazine which saw a massive 493.5% rise during the six-month period ending June 2002. The title also saw a 19.6% year on year increase in circulation according to ABC results for the same period. Elsewhere IPC Ignite’s dance magazine Muzik saw a 9.6% year-on-year decline in adverts in the January to June 2002 period. The title also suffered from a 18.5% year on year decline in circulation, according to the ABC results for the corresponding period.
