Opus Poaches Cohen To Head Sales Team

GWR’s sales house, Opus, has poached Daniel Cohen from rival radio group Chrysalis to head its newly restructured marketing operation.

Cohen will oversee the local and national marketing teams, which have recently been merged into a single London-based operation. The restructure is designed to enable Opus to represent its brands more efficiently and Cohen will work to ensure this.

Reporting to Lisa Hallinan, head of strategy and marketing support, Cohen will work alongside Sarah Villegas, who joins Opus from Bristol-based buying agency Radio Works and Sarah Dosanjh, who joins from Feather Brooksbank.

It is understood that Cohen’s role at Chrysalis as business development group head for its radio interests has been filled by Laura Hill, who was previously a business development executive for the group.

Opus was recently awarded the contract to sell advertising across Vibe FM and Galaxy 101 following the joint venture deal between GWR and Scottish Radio Holdings (see Opus Secures Galaxy 101 Sales Contract).

The newly created Vibe Radio Services, which is 52% owned by Scottish Radio Holdings and 49% owned by GWR, recently acquired Galaxy 101 from Chrysalis Radio for £12.5 million (see Chrysalis Strengthens London Offering With LNR Acquisition). Opus already sells advertising for the group’s Vibe FM brand in the East of England and will now represent Galaxy 101 in the West Country region.
