New Woman Ups Fashion Content

Emap’s monthly glossy New Woman is increasing its fashion content to attract more advertising from high-end retail brands.

From June the magazine will include an extra eight pages of fashion per issue and will focus on premium and international designer labels. The title will include the work of more top photographers and will feature a new fashion and shopping section called 100 under £100, which will showcase both designer and high street brands.

According to Emap, the initiative has already gained positive feedback and June’s issue will include a six-page fashion promotion for the designer range at Debenhams.

Publishing director of New Woman, Dawn Bebe, said: “New Woman‘s readers spend more on fashion per month than many other major women’s glossy magazines. They are also more likely to buy something they’ve seen in the magazine due to its credibility with its readership.”

ABC results for the six month period ending December 2001 show that New Woman, which launched in the late 80s, saw circulation increase by 8.3% year on year to 305,088.
