UK Consumer Mags Launches Rise In Early 2002
The number of consumer magazine launches in the UK during the first two months of 2002 rose by 61% year on year, according to the April issue of Seymour’s Monthly Monitor, as reported by the Periodical Publishers Association (PPA).
During January and February 58 new consumer mags hit the market, as compared with just 36 new launches in the same two months in 2001 and 27 the year before.
“The increase is primarily made up of bi-monthly and quarterly titles, possibly indicating that publishers are becoming increasingly cautious about how a new title is launched by allowing longer periods for a title to sell through,” says the PPA.
