Blade To Launch Giant Size Division

Blade is to launch a division dedicated to giant banners and oversized outdoor formats. The first of its kind, the division recognises the growth potential of oversized formats, which Grant Branfoot, national buying manager at Blade anticipates will see double digit growth beyond 2002 (see Feature: Size Matters In Outdoor).

Including oversized stock from JCDecaux, Van Wagner and More O’Ferrall, along with giant banner companies such as Mega Profile, Blow-Up and Megaposter, the sector saw expenditure of £14.4m in 2001, according to Blade. This figure is forecast to grow to more than £20m this year, Giant posters having outperformed the rest of the outdoor sector in recent years, helped by a 30% increase in stock.

Branfoot explained: “With advertisers always looking for ways to achieve greater standout this sector of outdoor offers the perfect tonic.”

Branfoot is to head up the division, while Caroline Moorse will manage day to day buying, assisted by Paul Etherington.
