Pace Of Digital TV Increases

Pace Micro Technology has launched its new low-cost digital receiver allowing UK viewers to switch to digital TV without having to subscribe to digital platforms such as Sky or the beleaguered ITV Digital.
The digital adapter, which is available for under £100, allows viewers to access up to 14 free-to-air channels and is being hailed as a significant step towards the realisation of the Government’s plans to convert the UK population to digital TV by 2006-2010.
The adapter, which plugs into the back of an ordinary analogue TV, tunes itself in automatically to receive the digital signal through the existing aerial connection.
Malcolm Miller, chief executive of Pace, said: “The new adapter brings digital TV access to millions of consumers who might previously have been put off by the cost of switching to digital and in doing so ensures the UK’s continued lead in digital TV take up. The adapter will also open up digital TV to multiple environments such as hospitals and schools and will provide a cost-effective digital switch for each television in households with more than one TV.”
