Vizeum To Handle Planning And Buying For Channel Five
![]()
Vizeum has been appointed to takeover Channel Five’s multi-million pound media planning and buying account from incumbent Walker Media.
Aegis-owned Vizeum will work closely with Five’s advertising agency TBWA/London and its below-the-line agency The Promotions Factory on planning and strategy for the channel, which rebranded last year (see Channel 5 Relaunched As Five).
The pitch process was overseen by Five’s creative director of strategy and marketing, David Pullan. It focused on the ability to understand the Five brand, generating media neutral ideas to achieve maximum cut-through and delivering top quality buying.
Commenting on the account, Pullan said: “We will be focusing more on overall connections between programmes and the brand and the viewers, a strategy which integrates with Vizeum’s connectology approach.”
He added: “I’d like to thank the team at Walker Media for their excellent work over the past five years, and their substantial contribution to the success of marketing for Channel 5 and Five.”
Vizeum UK, formerly BBJ, was relaunched as a connections planning agency in July of this year. It turns over around £250 million with clients including Coca-Cola, Halifax Bank Of Scotland, BMW, Disney, Coors and AOL.
Last month Aegis Group reported revenues up by 7.8% in the first half of 2003, in what the group described as patchy market conditions. Pre-tax profits remained more or less flat at £30.9 million, up from £30.0 million in the first half of 2002 (see Aegis Posts Improving Revenues In ‘Patchy’ Conditions).
