Virgin Secures Texaco And MG For Car Promotion

Virgin Radio has secured Texaco and MG for a promotion on the Pete and Geoff Breakfast Show, which will see 20 MG sports cars given away live on air.

The promotion, which will be backed by a high profile television ad campaign, will direct consumers to Texaco’s 1500 UK forecourts in order to find clues which could win them a car every weekday for four weeks.

The campaign, which kicks off next week, will also be supported by point of sale promotion in 1,200 Texaco service stations, direct mail and special car displays on Texaco forecourts.

Commenting on the initiative, Mick Jones, marketing manager at Texaco, commented: “With the reach and appeal of the brands involved, this is a promotion that will generate excitement and interest in our audience. The mechanic of this high profile promotion is designed to bring new and returning customers on to our forecourts to experience the brand.”

Brian Commins, sponsorship and promotions director at Virgin Radio added: “This partnership proves that brands can work together to create massive multi-platform promotions that deliver for all.”

He continued: “It is testament to our flexible and creative approach that we were considered the only radio station who could bring this alive and deliver it to a national audience.”

Virgin Radio recently secured Sky Plus to sponsor the Pete and Geoff Breakfast Show throughout October (see Virgin Secures Sky For Breakfast Sponsorship).
