Emap Brings Digital Radio Stations To Gaming Fans
![]()
Emap Performance has secured a deal with F2P Games that will bring its range of digital radio stations to gaming fans.
Players of F2P Games on the Freeview platform will be able to access a drop down menu to select which digital radio service they want to tune into whilst they play.
Users will be able to listen to a range of Emap stations including Smash Hits, Kiss, The Hits, Q, Magic and Kerrang!, whilst playing Tetris, Frankenrobbie or Binko.
Commenting on the initiative, Andrea Kilbourne, managing director of Emap Interactive, said: “The way people want to listen to radio is changing. This is another example of how digital radio can help enhance other activities.”
Aubrey Welch, co-founder of F2P Games, added: “We are delighted to be working with Emap. Providing radio links to the F2P Games channel on Freeview is a first for a games channel on any digital TV platform.
The latest RAJAR listening figures for the three months to September 2003 reveal the popularity of Emap’s digital radio channels. More than one million people now tune into Kiss outside of London, Smash Hits has a weekly reach of 977,000 and Kerrang! attracts 864,000 listeners.
Emap recently announced plans to become the first company to offer interactivity across its portfolio of digital radio services on the Freeview platform. Listeners will be able to access multiple pages of extra information and promotions whilst listening to Emap’s digital radio stations (see Emap To Offer Interactivity On Digital Radio Platforms).
