The Economist is the best read magazine amongst senior corporate and financial decision makers, according to new research carried out by Ipsos-RSL.
The latest Global Capital Markets Survey 2003 shows that the magazine is particularly popular in the world’s largest and most successful organisations, banks and financial institutions.
The research reveals that the Economist is read by 37% of the overall universe of senior decision makers and has risen two places since the last survey was carried out three years ago, overtaking Wall Street Journal and Euromoney.
In terms of overall readership for international publications, The Economist is ranked second, just below the Financial Times, which reaches 40% of the universe, down from 44% in 2000.
The survey, which was organised by Objective Research, has a sample size of 1,717 and a universe of 9,307 across 22 countries. The questionnaire surveyed managers in large organisations, banks and financial organisations offering capital markets services between May and September 2003.
Last month the British Business Survey revealed that the Daily Mail is the most popular daily newspaper amongst UK business professionals, followed by The Times and The Daily Telegraph (see Daily Mail Hits The Mark With Business Professionals).
