CN Media Group has appointed Jon Hewson as managing director of its radio division with responsibility for driving growth across its portfolio of stations.
Hewson was formerly group sales director of Guardian Media Group’s radio arm and was one of the original team of three people responsible for founding the division, which now owns the Jazz FM stations.
The CN Group has interests in nine radio stations across the UK, with five in the Midlands, two in the North West and two in Northern Ireland. The company plans further growth in radio and has recruited Hewson to spearhead its expansion.
Commenting on the appointment, Robin Burgess, chief executive of the CN Group, said: “I am delighted we have been able to attract someone of Jon’s calibre to lead our radio division to achieve its true growth potential.”
Hewson added; “There is a huge void in the UK radio industry which can be filled by a group which focuses on providing enjoyable local programming for its audiences, return on investment for its clients and rewards its employees for their commitment. The CN Group offers all of this and I can’t wait to get started.”
