GMG Radio Appoints Carter Director Of Sales

GMG Radio has promoted Julian Carter to the position of director of sales, following the departure of Jon Hewson earlier this year.
Carter, who was previously deputy group sales director, will take responsibility for developing sales across GMG’s portfolio of five regional stations and numerous digital services.
Reporting directly to Shaun Bowron, group operations director, Carter will also be responsible for developing relations with the group’s national sales house, Chrysalis Radio Sales. He will work closely with the sales directors in each station in order to maximise their local revenue streams.
Prior to joining GMG, Carter was regional sales director of the Northern and Scottish regions for Capital Radio.
Commenting on the development, Shaun Bowron, said:”Our stations are becoming huge commercial successes and Julian’s considerable experience of both the media and agency fields will ensure that the group continues to maximise revenue opportunities as we grow.”
Carter added: “GMG Radio is at an exciting phase of development and well positioned to ensure it’s a major commercial player in the future of radio. I’m looking forward to being part of their growing success.”
GMG recently has appointed Michael Holt as sponsorship and promotions manager at Jazz FM London. The appointment marks a return to radio for Holt, whose most recent role was commercial manager at production company UMTV (see Jazz FM London Appoints New S&P Manager).
