Hachette Filipacchi has strengthened its senior management line-up with the appointment of Simon Bell as marketing director and Sarah Vickery as business development director.
Bell, who takes up his position at the beginning of September, joins from the Sky Digital’s Music Choice, where he was joint director of music and marketing. He has over 16 years of experience in the industry and has held positions at the Financial Times, Unilever and the BBC, where he was head of strategic marketing for BBC2 programming and then BBC1.
Announcing the appointment, Kevin Hand, chairman of Hachette Filipacchi UK, said: “We are delighted to have secured the services of such an outstanding marketer whose wide range of skills and experience will add a new dimension to our team. This is going to be an exciting year ahead for our company and Simon’s is just one of a number of senior appointments and developments planned.”
Bell added: “I’m thrilled to be joining a major new publishing company at such an exciting time in its development. I am looking forward enormously to working with Kevin and his team across some of the UK’s best known magazines and helping to grow them further.”
The group’s senior management team has been further boosted by the promotion of Sarah Vickery, to the position of business development director, from her previous position as publisher of Sugar, TV Hits and ELLEgirl.
Vickery, who was previously corporate business development director for Emap Digital, will continue to oversee publishing of the teen titles and will assume the additional responsibility for new launches and acquisitions.
Other recent appointments at Hachette include Ann O’Neill as director of classified sales and Vicki Harper, who was recently appointed deputy editor of women’s lifestyle magazine, Red (see Hachette Filipacchi Announces Editorial Shake-Up At Red).
