Carthy Replaces Gutfreund As i-level Managing Director

Digital media planning and buying agency, i-level, has appointed former IPC and Zenith Media director, Faith Carthy, to the position of group managing director.

Carthy, who joined i-level in 2000, takes up the role next month and will replace Nick Gutfreund, who is leaving after two years as managing director to pursue a career in furniture and cabinet making.

Charlie Dobres, CEO of i-level, said: “Nick has brought huge commitment and drive to i-level and we are grateful for his influence and management over the past two and a half years. Faith brings unparalleled credentials as a media practitioner and accomplished cross media experience to the role, we know she will contribute to driving i-level’s vision forward.”

Carthy joined i-level three years ago and has held the position of deputy managing director for the past two years, with principle responsibility for i-level’s media business. Prior to that she was business development director at IPC Solutions and before that was one of the founding members of Zenith Media.

Commenting on her appointment, Carthy said: “I am delighted to be given this chance to take on this role. i-level is at a very exciting point in its development, within a very dynamic and flourishing sector. I’m looking forward to the challenge of building on the work that Nick has done.”

Gutfreund has managed i-level through a period of sustained growth against an industry background of recession. Under his tenure the company grew to over 40 people and launched new businesses in online distribution and consultancy (see i-level Extends Digital Marketing Presence With New Division).

He said: “I am leaving to follow a life long ambition to actually be creative rather than simply talk about someone else’s creativity. I suppose I am finally putting my money where my mouth is.”

Earlier this week IPC Ignite, the men’s lifestyle and entertainment division of IPC Media, appointed Kevin Herry as head of its online operations, with responsibility for developing commercial partnerships and managing the online team to deliver revenue from internal projects (see IPC Ignite Appoints Heery To Lead Online Division).
