Key Appointments At Chrysalis Radio North West

Chrysalis radio has announced a number of key appointments in the North West, the first of which will see Mike Williams become chairman of Manchester’s Galaxy 102.

Williams began his career at major London agencies over thirty years ago, before moving to Manchester in 1978 to establish the first media agency outside of the capital, which later became TMD Manchester. He then went on to set up MediaVest (Manchester) as managing partner in 1993.

Commenting on his appointment, regional managing director, David Lloyd, said: “”Mike is very well known, and we know that his knowledge and the respect he has earned will help continue to steer Galaxy 102 forward as part of the fastest growing radio group in the UK.”

Steve Howarth, formerly of Guardian Media and the Capital Group, is the new sales controller for Chrysalis Radio North West. Based at Galaxy 102 in Manchester, Howarth will be responsible for all revenues from the region for the Heart, Galaxy and LBC radio brands.

Steve Owen has also just been appointed to the newly created role of regional creative services manager. He joins from Emap and will operate with a team across Manchester and Yorkshire.

Earlier this month Chrysalis released its first half financial results showing that it continues to outperform the radio industry with revenues rising by 19.8% to £27.2 million, whilst airtime advertising revenues grew by 19.9% to £26.5 million during the same period (see Chrysalis Radio Outperforms Industry).
