Cinema advertising group, Pearl & Dean, has secured Renault as the sponsor of a nationwide promotional campaign to promote French cinema in the UK.
The campaign, which was negotiated by Ryan Sandilas at Carat sponsorship, has been developed in association with the Institut Français and Unifrance to run across a range of British UGC cinemas.
The deal will see cinemas across the UK screen a varied showcase of French films, including documentaries, dramas and comedies. Stars of the films will attend the screenings, which will take place throughout March.
Johnathan Wignall, national advertising manager at Renault, commented: “Renault is delighted to be the title sponsor of this year’s French Film Tour. Our involvement with this event builds on our successful relationship with Pearl & Dean, whilst helping to showcase the best French cinema to a UK audience.”
Vincent Melilli, the assistant director of the Institut Français, added: “The Renault French Film Tour’s main objective is to give full and practical support to British distributors believing in the artistic and commercial value of French cinema. With it, we aim to set up an event which will add impetus to the promotional campaign planned for the release of these films.”
Cinema admissions for January reached 16.3 million, which equates to an average of 3.67 million cinema visits a week, according to the latest figures from the Cinema Advertising Association (see Cinema Gets Off To A Good Start In 2003).
