Future Publishing’s Hi Fi Choice magazine will be in a festive mood this December with the launch of a special edition to celebrate its 250th edition.
The audio and technology magazine, which hits the shelves at the end of the month will look at 29 years of hi-fi development. Contributors for the special celebratory issue include a number of Hi-Fi Choice’s current reviewers, as well as editors and publishers from the past each offering a taste of how the market and the magazine itself has changed and evolved since its launch. The magazine first came into existence in 1975 as an A5-sized book published quarterly, the title changed format and wen monthly in 1987.
Commenting on the special edition, Tim Bowern, editor of Hi-Fi Choice, said: “The technology of recorded sound has seen a seismic shift since the launch of Hi-Fi Choice 250 issues ago. There has been the birth of digital audio, domestic integration of the PC and the unstoppable surge of home cinema changing and shaping the development of products and the markets they serve.”
He continued: “Yet despite this pace of change, Hi-Fi Choice’s core ethos has always remained. From vinyl and valves to the latest high-resolution digital formats, we sort the best from the rest with rigorous test procedures and a highly experienced team of reviewers â a dedicated, no-nonsense guide for those who demand supreme fidelity.”
Future Publishing recently appointed Tony Mott as as the new editor of its games magazine, Edge, as part of a programme of investment to drive growth during the coming year (see Future Appoints New Editor To Expand Edge Brand).
