Interactive Market Systems has announced that Terry Sullivan is to retire as managing director of the research and media analysis firm after more than 34 years in the business.
Sullivan will leave the company at the end of February 2004 to be replaced by former chief operating officer and current joint managing director, Paul Baynton, who has been preparing to take over since earlier this year.
Commenting on his departure, Sullivan said: “It is with much sadness that I will be retiring from IMS. However, I am totally confident that Paul will provide the leadership and guidance enabling IMS to continue to provide the software and support services that our clients both deserve and respect.”
IMS is the provider of software for planning and trading print, radio, television, internet, cinema and outdoor media. It serves three of the top five UK advertising agencies and three of the top five UK media specialist agencies.
The company, which is owned by VNU, is currently working with sister firms Nielsen Media Research and Nielsen//NetRatings to deliver integrated advertising and marketing solutions to its range of clients.
In other media research news, BARB has announced that it is preparing to introduce a new reporting system capable of measuring the sponsorship of television programmes by the middle on next year (see BARB Prepares To Launch Sponsorship Tracking System).
