Mediaedge:cia Parts Ways With Managing Director

Mediaedge:cia’s managing director, James Whitmore, has left the company and is to be replaced by Matt James, formerly managing director of Manning Gottlieb OMD.
The move comes just months after Mediaedge:cia’s UK group chairman, Rob Norman, took control of the agency, following the departure of Fiona McAnena to become development director at parent company WPP’s marketing consultancy, Kantar.
James worked alongside Norman at CIA Medianetwork in the mid-1990s, before joining Manning Gottlieb OMD in 1997. He left the agency last October and many speculated he would leave the media world all together.
Commenting on the appointment, Norman said: “I am delighted that Matt has decided to join us: he is a first class operator and was a key contributor to Manning Gottlieb’s success. He has the energy and skills we require to lead the company to the next stage of its development.”
He added: “It is sad that James Whitmore is leaving and all of us want to express our gratitude for his contribution over the years and for putting together such a capable team.”
Mediaedge:cia has also announced plans to reorganise its structure with the creation of two client services director positions, which have been filled by Ian Redman and Andy Martin.
The pair will be responsible for the delivery of client services across the company and Martin will develop the direct response offering in partnership with Tim Davis, head of direct services. Norman said: “We are making a lot of progress in this area and believe it holds a lot of potential for the future.”
