Capital Gold has secured Telewest as the sponsor of its new breakfast show, which will broadcast across the entire Capital Gold network.
The new show launches later this month and will be presented by Mick Brown, who takes over from the outgoing Mike Osman. The sponsorship will include on-air credits and promotional trailers using the strapline: “Same phone, different rules”.
The deal, which is intended to promote Telewest’s Talk Unlimited offer, also includes sponsorship of Capital’s 100-102 Century FM in Newcastle and 96.4 BRMB in Birmingham. Telewest branding will also appear on the Capital Gold website.
Commenting on the deal, John Petter, director of marketing for Telewest Broadband, said: “Radio is a medium that we are using increasingly, given the key strategic fit that stations such as Capital Gold, Century FM and 96.4 BRMB can provide. We are delighted to be involved with the stations and believe their mix of music and entertainment is a great to raise awareness of Talk Unlimited.”
According to the latest RAJAR data for the three month period ending December 2002, Capital Gold’s flagship London station has increased its weekly reach by 0.7% year on year to 1,211,000, up from 1,203,000 in the same period in 2001.
Last month Capital secured the biggest sponsorship deal in British radio history with Woolworth’s multimillion pound sponsorship of the Network Chart Show (see Woolworths Signed As New Chart Show Sponsor).
