Future Marks Total Guitar Anniversary With DVD Special

Future Publishing has announced the creation of a one-off promotional DVD to celebrate the milestone 10th birthday of Total Guitar magazine.

The DVD, packed with exclusive guitar lessons and interactive training tools, is a first for UK music making magazines, offering readers tuition and guidance on guitar techniques as well as providing stand-out individuality from other titles in the sector.

In preparation for its next 10 years, Total Guitar has announced that a veteran of Future’s music portfolio, Stephen Lawson, has taken the editor’s chair on the respected title, following the promotion of Scott Rowley, who becomes Editor-in-Chief at Future’s London-based Classic Rock magazine.

Commenting on the special anniversary edition, Stephen Lawson, editor of Total Guitar said: “I’m proud to be taking the helm of Total Guitar on the eve of its 10th birthday. The magazine is such a success story and universally respected by the stars, teachers and, of course, the readers. Our approach to learning the guitar is all about enjoying it and not taking it too seriously – playing guitar should be fun, after all. It’s a no-nonsense approach, which seems to appeal to players of all abilities.”

On the covermounted DVD, he added: “We’re really excited about the things this DVD has made possible – it’s a must-have for any Total Guitar reader. We were the first guitar magazine in the UK to covermount a CD and producing the first DVD is the next evolution.”

The 10th birthday issue of Total Guitar hits newsstands on 17 November, with a cover price of £4.99. Future recently appointed ABC to carry out circulation audits for all of its 50 magazine titles, spanning the technology, games and entertainment sectors. The move, which comes at a time when there has been an increase in the amount of auditing work being carried out, recognises that circulation auditing is an area of speciality in its own right (see Future Publishing Hands Auditing Business To ABC).
