WACL hosts International Women’s Day event at Goodison Park stadium
Women in Advertising and Communications, Leadership (WACL), brought together women across the industry last week at Goodison Park – the home of the Women’s Super League football club, Everton FC.
The event highlighted women’s roles as leaders and spotlighted the importance of championing women and providing opportunities both within and outside of London.
This comes against a backdrop of recent push-back on diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) practices and analysis highlighting the extent of the gender pay gap and the systemic structural imbalances that continue to prevent women from accessing leadership roles within the industry.
Prominent themes throughout the day focused on building confidence, representation and networking in typically male-dominated sectors.
Alongside the main stage content, attendees were given the chance to build connections through a “speed mentoring” session, which saw groups of six rotate among mentors from female leaders across the industry.
The collaboration with Everton Football Club reflected a shared ambition to amplify women’s voices across sport, media and business.
Digital Cinema Media and Channel Factory also sponsored the event.
