Sharewatch: Emap Creeps Up In Busy Day’s Trading
Emap saw a busy day’s trading yesterday, adding 1.34% to push its share price up to 831˝p. Yesterday the company announced Adam Roland as head of its broadcast innovations division after poaching the high profile media-man from talkSPORT (see Emap Raids TalkSPORT To Find Broadcast Innovations Head).
The company has also announced a mammoth £1 million advertising push to launch its flagship rock radio station Kerrang! on an FM license in the West Midlands (see Emap Backs Kerrang Radio With Launch Campaign).
Elsewhere in radio, GWR saw a minor dip, slipping 0.11% to 226źp. The company recently announced a strengthening of its marketing department with the appointment of a new marketing manager and new marketing executive (see GWR Bolsters Marketing Team To Forge Brand Strategies).
Newspaper giant Trinity Mirror regained some ground yesterday, climbing by 0.82% following demands for answers from shareholders over editorial controls at the company’s flagship title, the Daily Mirror. Some claim that chief executive, Sly Bailey, must take some responsibility for the paper printing hoax pictures of Iraqi prisoners being abused.
The FTSE 100 rose by 0.3% to close at 4,414.4 yesterday, with biotechnology stocks fuelling the rise. The FTSE 250 saw a similarly good performance, adding 1% to close at 5,943.7.
