Granada Secures Sponsor For Online Soap Site

Granada Enterprises has secured personal loan company Dial 4 A Loan as the integrated online sponsor of www.itv.com/soaps, which contains the latest news and updates on all aspects of ITV’s soaps and dramas.

The deal, negotiated by Collin Ramsay, includes masthead branding on every page of the website, dedicated sponsored newsletters, video branding and an online presence across a range of other ITV properties.

The sponsorship also comprises a new soap vote option, a personal calculator function linking to www.dial4aloan.com and url broadcast promotions across a selection of ITV’s most high-profile on-air soaps.

ITV’s dedicated www.itv.com/soaps provides celebrity gossip from the stars of ongoing series such as Coronation Street, Emmerdale and The Bill. It attracts more than 4 million page impressions and in excess of 400,000 unique users on a monthly basis.

Meanwhile, ITV is also investing in its interactive television capabilities by appointing Eckoh Technologies to provide interactive telephony services for the channel. Eckoh is one of Europe’s largest speech application service providers.

Eckoh offers technology that will build on ITV’s existing interactive elements in programmes including This Morning, CiTV and Ant And Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway. Eckoh claims that the development of interactive telephony services will generate considerable revenues for both organisations, with new formats soon to be launched.

Eckoh’s platform supports the traditional telephony broadcast services such as votes, competitions, polls and audience data capture, and also provides new technologies such as speech recognition. This gives ITV the opportunity to realise new programming concepts that are currently still in development.
