Sky To Bring Vegas To The Living Room

Sky has announced the launch of its first interactive gambling channel, Sky Vegas Live, which will begin broadcasting from 6pm tomorrow.

The channel, operating from a “state-of-the-art virtual TV studio” in South West London will offer viewers the chance to win cash prizes by playing along with live action casino games presented by a host of familiar faces, including The National Lottery Live‘s Gigi Morley, Clare Beckwith and former Blue Peter presenter Stuart Miles.

Soon after its launch the channel will offer interactive betting on virtual horse races. Every Sky Vegas Live race will covered by live studio commentary, provided by experienced racing commentators. A number of other games including virtual dog racing will be added to the channel’s line up throughout 2004.

Pete Ward, the channel’s executive producer said: “Sky Vegas Live gives viewers everything to play for – a slick and attractive channel with high pay-outs. The virtual TV studio will be the first of its kind and will give viewers the Vegas buzz in their living room and attract viewers who will enjoy a new betting experience.”

Gambling has recently become a fast growing area for the media, Dennis Publishing will this month launch the their first gambling magazine, entitled Inside Edge it will be aimed at 28 to 55 year-old men with high disposable incomes and an interest in gambling as a serious leisure pursuit (see Dennis Launches Monthly Gambling Magazine For Men).
