Emap Makes Steady Progress Towards Full Year Targets

Emap chairman Adam Broadbent says the cross-media group is making ‘reasonable’ progress towards its full year goals with consumer magazine circulation revenues and advertising performing well.

The Emap boss told investors at the company’s annual general meeting this morning that busines- to-business operations are performing strongly and magazine display advertising remains good. However, he revealed that recruitment revenues are slightly more mixed than they were two months ago.

Broadbent said: “Although there is still a good part of the year to go, we are confident that we will meet our growth expectations for the full year, which are consistent with the guidance provided in May when we announced our 2003/04 full year results.”

Emap revealed that the slow start to the year in radio advertising has continued throughout the first quarter, but the company claims to be seeing a modest pick up in July.

Broadbent said that revenues for Emap’s music television channels have strengthened since the start of the year and are now showing reasonable growth. However, in France there has been no change in the competitive landscape and the wider advertising market has weakened.
