Adshel Bags Guildford Street Furniture Contract

Clear Channel-owned Adshel has secured the ten year street furniture contract for Guildford, in a deal worth an estimated £5 million in advertising revenue.

The contract will see Adshel install and maintain 78 new bus shelters in and around Guildford city centre, in a move that allows advertisers to target a high proportion of affluent suburbanites with more than 120 panels.

Commenting on the deal, Julie France, managing director of Adshel said, “This is an important contract to have won as securing key towns such as Guildford ensures we can deliver the best coverage and frequency in London and the South East for our clients.”

According to Adshel, with a population of 123,000 people Guildford is one of the biggest towns in the London ITV and is therefore a key location for advertisers. It is close to the major airports at Heathrow and Gatwick and is connected to the capital through a frequent rail service from London Waterloo.

The latest figures from the Outdoor Advertising Association show that the industry has been performing well recently with revenue increased by 6.6% year on year to more than £195 million in the three months to September 2003 (see Q3 Gain Makes Outdoor The UK’s Fastest Growing Medium).
