ITV Confirms February Launch For Kids Channel

ITV has announced the launch date of its yet-to-be-named children’s channel, with the youth offering available on all digital platforms from 11 February.

The new channel will feature a range of content from the broadcaster’s existing children’s services, as well as newly commissioned programmes and acquisitions.

Details of the channel were first confirmed in August, with Estelle Hughes, editor of CiTV expanding her role to take editorial responsibility for the new channel (see ITV To Launch Children’s Channel Within Six Months).

Confirming the channel’s launch, Nigel Pickard, director of programmes for ITV explained the move, stating: “This is a great opportunity for ITV to reinforce its position as a valued and trusted provider of children’s programming in an increasingly competitive market and to bring ITV to a new generation of viewers.”

The new channel will build ITV’s digital entertainment portfolio beyond its existing offerings of ITV1, ITV2 and ITV3 and continue the momentum created by the launch of ITV4, due next month (see ITV4 Lifts Lid On Launch Programmes)
