ITV will not be selling Carlton Screen Advertising (CSA), despite long term rumours that the broadcaster would off-load it as part of a streamlining of its business.
A strong performance by CSA in recent months, in particular the winning of the Cineworld contract has resulted in the broadcaster announcing that it no longer has plans to sell the company. The Cineworld win gave Carlton a 80% share of cinema advertising in the UK.
Henry Staunton, ITV finance director said in an interview with Mediaweek: “We have completed reviews of CSA and Screen Vision. We have grown the CSA contract base and believe our joint venture in the US can deliver real growth, which we’ll exploit for the benefit of our shareholders.”
ITV was first thought to be selling off £600 million worth of non-core businesses last July, when a report in the Independent on Sunday announced plans to sell numerous assets from Carlton Screen Advertising to stakes in top Premier League football teams Arsenal and Liverpool.
