6.7 Million Adults Tune Into National Television Awards

ITV Logo The National Television Awards on ITV1 last night attracted a peak audience of 6.7 million adults towards the end of its two and a half hour timeslot.

This was slightly down on last year’s peak of 6.9 million adults, and the average was also down, from 6.5 million adults in 2005, to 6.2 million this year (see TV Awards Proves A Winner For ITV).

However, Coronation Street, showing on ITV1 prior to the awards ceremony, had a peak audience of 10 million adults, and an average of 9.9 million (a 48.1% audience share) throughout its half hour running time.

Emmerdale performed as strongly as normal, with an average audience of 7.9 million adults, reaching a peak of 8.1 million adults (a 42% audience share).

BBC One’s best performing non-news programme was Crimewatch at 9pm. It garnered a peak audience of 4.4 million adults and an average audience of 4 million adults (an 18.8% audience share).
