New Editor For Marie Claire Website

Marie Claire Cover Marie Claire, IPC SouthBank’s flagship women’s glossy, has announced the appointment of Carla Bevan as editor of its recently launched website marieclaire.co.uk, ahead of the magazine’s October revamp.

Currently deputy editor of Glamour‘s website, glamour.com, Carla has also written for Vogue.com and GQ.com. Her experience also includes time as assistant editor of Swarovski Magazine as well as freelance writing for More! magazine and Metro.

IPC announced earlier this month that Marie Claire would be revamped, following a double-digit percentage drop in news-stand sales.

Marie Claire editor Marie O’Riordan says: “I am thrilled that marieclarie.co.uk already has the power to lure someone of Carla’s calibre and track record. She is a human dynamo of energy and ideas and I am really looking forward to working with her to ensure we quickly become the first destination for fashionable women online. Carla will be a central part of the editorial team, participating in and influencing all plans for the brand’s development.”

Publishing director Richard Johnstone said: “marieclaire.co.uk is an integral part of our plans for Marie Claire and the appointment of such an experienced online operator as Carla, as well as the appointment of digital advertising director Kristy Houtman last month, is a clear indication of how committed we are to developing the digital aspects of our business.”
