JCDecaux has continued its strong start to 2006 by retaining its outdoor advertising contract with BAA, in a deal worth £500 million (see JCDecaux Sees Strong Start To 2006).
JCDecaux inherited the account in 1999, when it bought out Sky Sites. The new contract, which could last up to ten years, begins in April 2007 and covers 1,700 poster sites at BAA’s seven UK airports: Glasgow, Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Gatwick, Stanstead, Heathrow, and Southampton.
Initially for seven years with an option to extend it by a further three, the deal includes coverage of sites at Heathrow’s Terminal Five, due to open in 2008.
Jean Francois Decaux, JCDecaux chairman and co-chief executive, said: “This is a long-term partnership and comes at a very exciting time with the opening of Terminal Five only two years away and the potential subsequent development of Heathrow East.
“This unique opportunity will enable us to bring to market many new innovative channels and sponsored services, and create a new digital showcase across BAA’s seven UK airports.”
