Dream Deal For BT Vision

Wallace And Gromit Many of the best-known modern movies are to be available on a pay-per-view basis from BT Vision, the new video-on-demand service, following a deal forged with DreamWorks SKG.

This comes hot on the heels of the announcement last month that BT Vision had struck deals with leading music video content providers to bring hundreds of concerts to viewers (see BT Signs Music Content For On-Demand TV Service).

Due to be launched in the autumn, BT Vision customers will now not only be able to tune into a variety of acts from Franz Ferdinand to Pavarotti, they will have the chance to view movies as diverse as Munich (Spielberg’s film about the 1972 Olympics massacre) and the award-winning animation Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit.

Dan Marks, BT Vision’s chief executive, said: “We’re delighted to have completed agreements with one of the world’s greatest movie studios. We look forward to bringing its movies to our customers with the choice, convenience and control that they want.”

BT Vision is to be offered nationwide with no compulsory subscription fee. A number of previous deals have already been made with content providers, including BBC Worldwide, Cartoon Network and National Geographic.
