TfL Cancels Afternoon Free Newspaper Contract

TfL Cancels Afternoon Free Newspaper Contract

Tube Train Transport for London will not be awarding a contract for a free afternoon paper because bids were not large enough, according to reports in the trade press.

The contract would have seen one of the free afternoon newspapers distributed across the London underground network.

Afternoon freesheets London Lite and thelondonpaper are currently distributed outside underground stations in the afternoon.

In October we reported that the thelondonpaper had won the contract to distribute copies of the title at Network Rail mainline stations in the afternoon (see Thelondonpaper Wins Network Rail Contract).

According to reports, TfL wrote to Associated Newspapers, publisher of London Lite, last week to inform them that bids for the contract were not big enough and to tell them of News International’s decision not to pursue the contract.
