Rosemary Gorman has replaced Alan Brydon as display ad director at the Evening Standard, following his departure from the newspaper yesterday.
Gorman comes from sister newspaper the Daily Mail where she is currently head of client sales. She was formerly managing partner of Zenith Media, which she left in July 1999 to join the Daily Mail.
Further restructuring involves classified and digital advertisement director Mike Rowley, who has been given the new role of digital director with a brief to develop the newspaper’s websites to maximise ad revenue.
Chris Law is moving from the Mail On Sunday to take responsibility for the classified business.
Evening Standard managing director Bert Hardy has signalled that he will stand down at an appropriate time. He was brought in as acting MD when Mike Anderson left to join News International and headhunters are believed to be searching for a replacement.
The Evening Standard is preparing for possible new competition, depending on which publisher wins the new freesheet tenure for London. Brydon is believed to be linked to plans for the proposed freesheet, which News International has now registered as thelondonpaper (see Brydon Exits Evening Standard Ad Sales).
