ITV1’s Love Island continued its struggle to tempt viewers last night, with the BBC News and Channel 4’s Big Brother proving far more popular than the b-grade celeb fest.
The News on BBC One attracted around five million adult viewers, taking a 26% share of the television viewing audience in its timeslot, while BB managed an average of just over four million (22%) compared to Love Island‘s 1.9 million viewers, only a 10% audience share.
Coronation Street performed very well as ever, netting more than seven million adult viewers, whilst On The Fiddle?, which follows police investigating benefit fraudsters, drew more than four million adult viewers to BBC One, narrowly beating Ant and Dec’s new game show on ITV1, Pokerface.
ITV1 had further success with its new comedy series, Jane Hall, which grabbed more viewers than for BBC One’s Only Fools On Horses and Channel 4’s F-Word.
Jane Hall took an average of 3.8 million adult viewers (a 20% audience share) whilst BBC One’s show jumping for Sport Relief managed 3.5 million (19%). Gordon Ramsay’s culinary expertise attracted 3.2 million to Channel 4, taking a 17% audience share.
Sly Stallone’s movie stinker on Five, Judge Dredd, was up against the other network’s big contenders, but was watched by an average of 1.4 million adult viewers.
