BT Vision has appointed Marc Watson as commercial director of the next generation TV service, with responsibility for all BT Vision commercial activities including programming and content acquisition.
BT Vision, due to launch in autumn 2006, will combine access to Freeview digital-terrestrial channels through the aerial with catch-up TV and broadband video-on-demand.
Watson previously worked as a legal adviser and head of legal and business affairs at publisher Northern and Shell until 1999 before joining Reel Enterprises where he acted as media rights negotiator and strategic adviser for the Football League, the Scottish Premier League and the NFL in Europe.
Watson said: “I am very excited to be joining BT Vision. It is a business I know well from my time as an adviser at Reel Enterprises and I am looking forward to working alongside the existing team to help deliver a successful and innovative TV business in an increasingly convergent media market place.”
Dan Marks, chief executive officer of BT Television Services, said: “I am delighted that Marc is joining BT Vision. He is one of the most outstanding television rights and commercial experts in the business and will add huge ability and experience to the team. His addition greatly increases BT Vision’s ability to deliver and manage the wide range of commercial arrangements that will make the service a great success.”
