Despite a much hyped appearance from Posh Spice, aka Victoria Beckham, Ugly Betty recorded a negligible ratings increase on its previous edition on Friday night.
The episode, which featured Posh in the demanding role of playing herself, lost out to The Tudors in the battle between BBC Two and Channel 4, with an average adult rating of 1.8 million. This was around 200,000 up on the previous showing of the comedy drama back on 9 September.
Historical drama The Tudors managed to pull in 2.3 million viewers and average share of 11.2% for the hour-long duration. Starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers as Henry VII, the glossy drama had its greatest audience during the initial 15 minutes (2.4 million viewers).
Top rating 9pm programme for Friday night was the jungle reality show I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! . Featuring the eviction of self proclaimed Absolutely Fabulous inspiration Lynne Franks, the show was watched by an average of 6.3 million viewers, easily beating Have I Got News For You on BBC Two, which had 5.3 million adult viewers.
Elsewhere over the weekend there were the usual high ratings for Strictly Come Dancing on BBC One, The X Factor on ITV1, and new BBC One costume drama, Cranford. The respective ratings for those audience bankers were 8.9 million, 7.6 million and 7.7 million.
Five’s movie premiere of XXX2 on Sunday night pulled in 1.9 million adult viewers, while BBC Two’s Top Gear was watched by an impressive 5.8 million people.
