Q Magazine remained king of the music titles, despite an almost 18% year on year drop in circulation, according to yesterday’s ABC consumer magazine concurrent release for the first six months of 2007.
The Emap title shed almost 29,000 copies in real terms year on year to take its total to just under 130,200, well above its nearest rival.
Mojo also recorded a decline, of around 9,700 copies year on year, a dip of 8%. Its final figure now stands at just over 112,000.
Development Hell’s Mixmag, which is to see its website relaunched following the appointment of the publisher’s first digital editor (see Development Hell Eyes Digital Focus), also experienced a loss year on year, of more than 11%, to take its total down to around 37,100.
IPC’s iconic music weekly, NME, dropped more than 6,000 copies from its total year on year to leave it with a final figure of 68,151. The magazine recently underwent a redesign in a bid to entice readers to the title and give it a “radical modern look and feel to switch on NME‘s design-savvy audience” (see NME Undergoes Redesign To Boost Circulation).
IPC’s monthly, Uncut, which recently celebrated its 10th birthday, felt a loss of almost 2,900 issues year on year for the period, with its ABC now resting at almost 85,900.
Meanwhile, Rock Sound remained static at over 23,250, whilst other more rock-focused titles proved popular with increased circulations. Classic Rock was driven up by around 11,200 copies year on year, boosting its circulation by 20% to more than 67,200.
Kerrang! also jumped, by 3,424 year on year, to over 83,500 issues, whilst Metal Hammer grew its circulation 8.3% on the same period last year to more than 49,000.
