Smooth Transition For New Radio Transmission

Smooth Transition For New Radio Transmission

Smooth Logo Smooth Radio launched early this morning, officially replacing the Saga Radio and Smooth FM brands.

Smooth 102.2 is set to target the more mature adult listener with a mix of music from the past five decades and today, combined with a selection of experienced presenters.

The station can be listened to online at www.smoothradio.com with variations in London, the East or West Midlands, the North West of England or Glasgow.

Former Radio 1 DJ Mark Goodier made his return to daytime radio as host of the mid-morning programme this morning – his first daily show for 10 years (see Mark Goodier To Join Smooth For Relaunch). Kevin Greening follows and former Virgin Radio presenter Martin Collins is on air at drive time (see Collins Goes From Virgin To Smooth).

Graham Dene has been recruited by to front the breakfast show (see GMG Radio Wants Dene For A Smooth Breakfast), whilst former Radio 1 presenter Lynn Parsons signed up for an evening slot on Smooth Radio’s London station, along with Mike Allen of LBC last week (see Smooth Radio Gets Two More DJs).

GMG revealed at the end of January that it would be rebranding its newly acquired Saga stations as Smooth Radio today, giving it a total of six Smooth stations (see GMG’s Saga Stations Go Smooth).

Just over a week ago, GMG appointed Chrysalis Radio Sales to handle the entire national sales contract for Smooth Radio (see Chrysalis Appointed To Sell Smooth).

At the last RAJARs, Smooth FM London had a weekly reach of 496,000, whilst the Capital’s most popular station, Heart 106.2 FM had a weekly reach of 1.8 million.
