Big Brother’s Viewing Figures Drop To Series Low

Britain's Got Talent Simon Cowell’s new reality talent show on ITV1, Britain’s Got Talent, wiped the floor with Channel 4’s Big Brother and BBC One’s New Tricks last night with an average adult audience of more than 6.2 million.

The new programme, which runs for a week, debuted on Saturday night with 4.2 million adult viewers on average (21.4%) (see Joseph Is The Word For Saturday Night Viewers), and gave ITV1 a 28% viewing share last night, compared to Big Brother‘s 9.7%.

More than 2.1 million adults on average tuned in to catch up on the latest goings on in the hormone heavy house – the show’s lowest viewing figures of the series so far.

Meanwhile on BBC One, the golden oldies were up to their New Tricks again, with Waterman and co. attracting just shy of five million (22.4%) to the channel.

Over on Five, Paul Merton In China wrapped up with a respectable average of more than 1.5 million, giving the station a 7% audience share at the time.

Earlier in the evening, Coronation Street‘s double bill pulled in more than 8.3 million (46.4%) and 8.1 million (39.5%) for each episode respectively to ITV1, whilst Bill Oddie’s forays into the British countryside in Springwatch on BBC Two gained almost 3.3 million (16.4%) between 8pm and 9pm.

Almost seven million adults on average watched EastEnders over on BBC One between 8pm and 8.30pm, with the unlucky in love Stacey Slater and her possibly rekindled romance with Bradley Branning gaining the channel a 36.3% viewing share at the time.
