CHALFONT CRITICISES RADIO FIVE PLANS

The Chairman of the Radio Authority, Lord Chalfont, has spoken out against the BBC’s decision to launch a 24-hour news and sports network. Lord Chalfont feels that changing Radio Five narrows the range of programmes for the public and reduces programming options for the third national commercial station to be advertised by December.

REGIONAL LICENCES

  • Sole bidder for the Dunfermline FM radio licence, Canmore Radio, has been rejected by the Radio Authority.
  • DevonAir Radio and rival Gemini Radio are to be interviewed on October 28 by the Authority about their bids for the West Country Licence.
