Guidelines For TV Food Ads
The ITC has drawn up some draft guidelines on TV ads for confectionery, food and slimming products. The guidelines would prohibit ads showing people eating several confectionery bars at one sitting and ads for slimming products would not be allowed to be directed at adolescents or children or use actors under the age of 25.
The ITC said its proposals follow concern about some ads making dubious health claims and that it wants to outlaw ads that encourage excessive consumption of sweets and snacks.
