BBC One’s Sunday classic Antiques Roadshow triumphed last night with over 11 million peak viewers, more than Strictly Come Dancing and ITV’s first instalment of I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here!.
BBC One’s early evening programme, which saw its highest ever valuation in the series, pulled in over 10 million average viewers and a 38.7% audience share between 7.15 and 8.15pm.
Strictly Come Dancing failed to hold on to the full audience after 8.15pm, slipping down to 9.4 million average viewers and a 32.8% audience share until 9pm.
The first in the new series of I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here! with Ant & Dec also failed to compete, securing ITV1 with just 8.8 million average viewers and a 34.8% audience share between 9pm and 10.30pm.
Meanwhile, The X Factor retained its Saturday night crown with more than 11.2 million peak viewers and a 43.5% audience share between 7.20pm and 8.35pm.
Its result show at 9.35pm, which featured a performance by the 2006 winner Leona Lewis, pulled in just under 10 million peak viewers.
ITV1’s Prince of Wales 60th birthday special, We Are Most Amused, with comedians Robin Williams and Rowan Atkinson, also managed to hold on to the peak audience between 8.35pm and 9.35pm with 7.8 million peak viewers.
BBC One’s Saturday edition of Strictly Come Dancing, on between 6.05pm and 7.20pm, banked more than 10.7 million peak viewers and a 42.3% audience share.
Friday evening’s Children in Need 2008 attracted over 11.3 million peak viewers and a 41.6% average audience share to BBC One from 7pm.
