UEFA Champions League scores 6 million viewers

Football ITV1’s live coverage of the Villarreal v Manchester United match pulled in almost 6 million peak viewers last night.

The UEFA Champions League Group E game, which saw both teams fail to score, attracted 4.7 million average viewers and a 19.9% audience share between 7.30pm and 10pm.

Meanwhile, in between the match, BBC One had its share of the peak audience, with Eastenders gaining over 8.4 million viewers.

Holby City pulled in just under 5.7 million peak viewers in the last half an hour, while Survivors banked 5.5 million peak viewers between 9.45pm and 10pm.

Elsewhere, more than 2.2 million viewers tuned into Channel Five between 9pm and 10pm to watch CSI:Miami, giving the channel higher ratings than Channel 4 and BBC Two during the hour-long peak time slot.

Channel 4’s High Society’s Favourite Gigolo, which looked into the life of Leslie Hutchinson, picked up 1.7 million viewers and a 7.3% audience share, while BBC Two’s Horizon attracted 1.6 million viewers.
