Radio’94 Gets Under Way

David Abbott, chairman of Abbot Mead Vickers.BBDO launched the new Radio Advertising Archive at the Commercial Radio 1994 Conference in Dublin this morning. In the keynote address he told delegates that the new archive will be “A source of great inspiration and value to the creative community.”

In a change of direction for the Radio Advertising Bureau, which has previously concentrated on campaign planning and qualitative research, the Radio Advertising Archive will store the best examples of radio advertising creativity.

Handled on the RAB’s behalf by Satellite Media Services (SMS), the service will intially be free to agencies and clients.

Douglas McArthur, managing director of the RAB, commented; “Our marketing efforts have had a dramatic impact on the level of knowledge and understanding about the brand of radio advertising among brand managers and the media departments within agencies. To help break down the last barriers which are preventing radio advertising from reaching its full potential, we now have to take a clear focus on stimulating the creative community.”

Further details from the Radio ’94 Conference will appear on Newsline as the Conference continues.
