Traffic Cops Races Ahead Of Harley Street

Harley Street BBC One’s Traffic Cops raced ahead of its ITV1 9pm rival Harley Street last night, pulling in almost double the number of viewers.

The popular reality crime show attracted more than 4.8 million viewers between 9pm and 10pm, while ITV1’s medical drama failed to impress with its penultimate episode, pulling in just 2.5 million at the same time.

Channel 4’s Big Brother also came ahead of ITV1, picking up 2.8 million viewers with a 13% audience share, during the peak evening slot.

Harley Street only managed to draw in third place with BBC Two’s Mock the Week, which gained an 12% audience share with 2.5 million viewers.

The ITV1 glossy drama has seen a slow decline in viewers since its poorly received first episode that aired in mid-July (see On The Fiddle Leaves Harley Street Feeling Sick).

BBC One had a successful day all-round, attracting the peak audience compared with the other channel’s throughout the day and evening, with just two breaks for ITV1’s Emmerdale and the last 30 minutes of The Bill.

The channel’s Olympic game coverage has been a big attraction to viewers all week (see Bonekickers Ends On A High).
