Lisa Snowdon Steps Into Van Outen’s Shoes At Capital

Radio Lisa Snowdon is set to become a permanent fixture alongside breakfast show host, Johnny Vaughan, at London’s Capital 95.8 radio station.

Snowdon replaces Denise Van Outen, who left her role just six months into her year-long contract in July (see Van Outen To Leave Capital).

She has been filling in on the show since Van Outen’s departure and is now set to become Vaughan’s fourth breakfast show partner since he succeeded Chris Tarrant in 2004.

Paul Jackson, managing director of Capital 95.8, said: “Lisa has been outstanding in recent weeks and we have received an amazing response from our listeners.”

Snowdon added: “I couldn’t think of a better way to start the day than with Mr Vaughan and the breakfast gang.”

Snowdon previously presented Living TV’s Britain’s Next Top Model but Jackson said she has “a natural flair for radio”.

Capital’s parent company GCap, who has recently been bought out by Global Radio, hoped to reunion of Van Outen and Vaughan on the breakfast show would boost audience numbers, however, latest Rajar figures for the 6am to 10am slot show just a 0.1% quarter on quarter increase to 944,000 listeners, up from 940,00 in June 2007.
