BBC Radio 5 Live is set to get its biggest schedule shakeup in years, with the midday news going and Nicky Campbell taking on a new morning phone-in show.
Victoria Derbyshire’s phone-in programme will be moved back to 10am to make way for Campbell’s new hour long phone-in session at 9am, directly after the breakfast show that he hosts with Shelagh Fogarty.
Campbell will only present the last two hours of the breakfast show with his co-host, though the start time remains unchanged as Fogarty is set to host the first hour on her own.
The midday news is due to be axed as it is expensive to make, despite it being a long-term fixture on the current 5 Live schedule.
The changes are due to come into play early next year.
It is the first major shakeup since Adrian Van Klaveren took on the role as station controller in April this year.
